How Many Monday Mornings Do You Have Left?

Oh, and I do mean in total.

In the life you’re living right now.

I’m looking at 2,028 Mondays if I end up living an exceptionally average life. (Women have until 81 to RIP, on average; men, you have until 76– sorry. FYI, my finances and hopes are budgeting for a longer life than that). 920 of those will occur in the next 20 years that I’m still planning to call myself employed (even if not gainfully). That’s either a lot of Mondays to hate or barely enough to love.

You might have more than 2,000 starts to your week left until your life calls it quits or only 20 to go into your gloriously imminent retirement. How do you want most of those Mondays to be? Where do you want to find yourself on the Monday Morning Feeling Scale as your alarm ends your weekend and catapults you into your week?

And so if you’re like the unfortunate vast majority and your work isn’t adding anything positive to your life (it’s quite possibly detracting from your life), where will you be on the scale of regret when someone’s feeding you Jell-O near the end of it all?

The point is, life’s far too short to settle in a job that depletes you. (I did it and can vouch that it’s unnecessarily un-fun.) You can choose to change. You can choose happiness. You can transition into a career that lights you up. How do you want your thousands or hundreds or dozens of Mondays to feel? How can you make that happen, without another week down the drain?
