It’s hard to have a spectacular life if your work isn’t great.
We started Happy Work Spectacular Life because almost everyone believes their work can be better.
We heard friend after friend and colleague after colleague and stranger after stranger saying how ready they were for some kind of change, big or small. So many people are ready to take their work to the next level, but so few know what to do about it, where to start or where to go next (other than the bar).
This led us to two big questions: How many of us have just fallen into our careers? Probably a lot. How many of us then end up feeling stuck in the very careers we fell into in the first place? Probably a lot. The more we thought about it, we realized the big need to bring intentionality (somewhere between mindfulness and meticulous planning) to our careers – but that’s not all.
Our next (useful) realization was that there will always be compromises to be made in the way that work fits into the grander scheme of our lives. You name it: money vs. location vs. flextime vs. promotion vs. money vs. friends vs. passion vs. fulfillment vs. status vs. success vs. life balance vs. money vs. benefits vs. fun vs. working for a massively egotistical yet really smart boss vs. working for a boss who is not the brightest fluorescent bulb in the office yet really sweet. Making work a valuable part of your life is a constant balancing act.
It’s a lot less often that we have a conversation about how important work is to our quality of life, let alone what to do about it. We’re going to change that. Because once we know how to evaluate all of this stuff with the right perspective (which is where Happy Spectacular can help), we can have the kind of work that makes our lives so much better.
